After your breakfast at the Hotel you will have a half day with a local guide walking into Medina to see the key attractions (Medina, Jemaa El fnaa, Souk, Koutoubia mosque, Saadian tombs, Bahia Palace, badia palace, Majorelles jardins, Menara gardens and the modern Medina). After dropping off at your Riad or hotel.
After breakfast, the 6-day Marrakech Desert Tour to Zagora and Merzouga commences. We leave your Riad/hotel at 7:30 / 8:00 a.m. and travel across the high Atlas highlands. We arrive to Tizin'Tichka road (at 2260 m), Morocco's highest road pass. We proceed to Ouarzazate, where you will see Atlas Studios and the Kasbah Taourirt. We take a scenic drive through the palm-lined Draa valley and agdz. We conclude the day at Zagora, where you will spend the night in a traditional 4* hotel with dinner.
After breakfast, we depart at 8:00 a.m. This is the most spectacular day of your tour; you will spend the entire day off-road from Zagora to Merzouga. It's the same route as the famed Paris-Dakar Rally. We will visit various Berber villages such as Tismomin and Oumjran. You will tour the Tismomin Ouasis and we will pause to drink berber tea and learn about berber origins and true life. You will experience the native rhythm. We proceed to Tafraoute Sidi Ali. We will cross various rivers and halt at a nomad's water well after lunch at Riad les Jardins de Tafraoute. In Merzouga, you ride camels to a desert camp where you will enjoy drum music all day... We will arrive at Merzouga before dark, giving you plenty of opportunity to take amazing photos among the dunes of Erg Chebbi before spending the night in a Sahara Desert luxury camp.
A whole day in Merzouga to explore the desert in a 4x4 vehicle. Berber nomads, Gnaoua music in Khamlia, old M'fis mines.... Lunch (Local meal: Madfouna, included) (Local meal: Madfouna, included) Spend the night in local riad with dinner.
Early in the morning your camel guide will wake you up to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards you will trek back to the village of Merzouga. Enroute you couldn’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes - changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast in your riad, you’ll leave for the Dades Valley, visiting Todra Gorges - the highest, narrowest Gorges in Morocco. After lunch within the valley, you will have an optional hour’s hike through the fields where you will enjoy visiting an old mud village. Meet locals and learn about the culture. On through Dades Valley, where you will have the opportunity to see majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”.
