We will depart from the riad at 7:00 a.m. and embark on a journey south into the majestic High Atlas Mountains via "Tizi-n-Tichka", the highest mountain pass standing at 2,260 meters "7,500 feet". Along the way, we will pause to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking vistas that unfold before us. Soon, we will reach the charming Berber villages, where residents reside in adobe houses. Taking a detour onto a smaller route, we will traverse a stunning, multicolored landscape. Our next destination is the historic Ait Benhaddou hamlet, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and renowned for its appearance in popular films like Gladiator, Obelix, Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara, featuring Penelope Cruz. Continuing our drive to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert and the starting point for various treks, we will arrive at our destination. Crossing the Anti Atlas Mountains, our journey proceeds through the arid and chilly Draa Valley, where we will make several stops along the route, savoring the beauty of the valley. The Draa Valley is home to the longest river in Morocco, which shares its name with the valley. Upon arriving in the picturesque Nkoub hamlet, we will savor a delightful lunch before entering the enchanting Merzouga desert. After lunch, our path leads us to Rissani, one of the holiest cities in Morocco and the birthplace of the esteemed royal dynasty of Morocco, the Alaouites. Rissani also marks the starting point of the ancient trade routes that traversed the Sahara to Tomboctou. From there, we embark on a thrilling journey across rugged terrain, eventually arriving at the mesmerizing desert of Merzouga, where our camel caravan awaits. As we ride our camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes, we will witness a breathtaking sunset before returning to our Sahara desert tent, secluded in the heart of this magical landscape. After a delectable supper, we will gather around the campfire, immersing ourselves in the enchanting rhythm of traditional Berber drumming beneath the starlit sky.
